It is with great condolences that Margarita Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature informs of the death (at the age of 72) of the outstanding member of its International Advisory Board Alexandra Hamilton, Duchess of Abercorn, known as «Sacha Abercorn», a notable philanthropist and a public figure. Being a great-great-grand-daughter of Alexander Pushkin, she gave much effort and energy to pupularization of her grand ancestor’s heritage in Ireland and the United Kingdom, primarily among teenagers and young people, and to patronage of the Russian arts. Those privileged and happy to meet that admirable lady and take even a small part in her various efforts will keep her bright image in their hearts. The staff of the Library expresses its cordial sympathy to the family and friends of the Duchess of Abercorn.
